Add comments and annotations
Pin a comment to the model, draw over the view, and manage threads.
Comments are pinned to the work and remember the view they were made from.
Prerequisites
You can comment as any workspace member, or as a guest on a Share link that allows comments.
Pin a comment to the model surface
- Press
P, or choose the surface annotation tool. - Click a point on the model. The pin attaches to the geometry and stays on that spot while others orbit; pins behind the model are hidden rather than drawn through it.
- Type the note. Mention a collaborator with
@to notify them. - Set a priority of high, medium, or low if it helps triage, then post.
Comment on an image, a frame, or the whole view
- Press
Nfor a comment that is not attached to the surface. It still saves the current camera and settings. - On a video or animated model, pause on the frame first. The comment records the clip and timecode, and opening it returns everyone to that frame.
- On an image, click the spot the note is about.
Draw over the view
Open a comment, then pick a drawing tool: marker (M), highlighter (H),
line (A), rectangle (R), ellipse (C), and eraser (E). On Pro and Team
the raster brush (B) paints with a foreground and background color, swapped
with X, and [ and ] change the brush size. Backspace clears the canvas
and Ctrl+Z undoes a stroke.
The drawing is saved with the comment and with the version it was drawn on. It never appears over a newer version.
Draw over the UV layout
On a 3D model, open the UV inspector (U), choose the mesh and UV set, and
pick a drawing tool. The inspector fills the viewer while you draw, so a seam,
a flipped island or wasted texel space can be circled instead of described. The
same tools, colors, undo and comment box apply, and the view still moves
while you draw: pan with the right mouse button or two fingers, zoom with
the wheel, a middle-button drag or a pinch. The markup is saved with the
comment against that mesh and UV set, stays attached to the islands when you
zoom or pan, and selecting the comment later reopens the inspector on it. A
comment holds either a viewport drawing or a UV drawing, not both.
Recall a comment
Select a comment in the thread list. The viewer returns to its saved camera, version, clip and timecode, and display settings, and shows its drawing.
Threads, resolution, and priorities
Reply in the thread to keep a discussion together. Mark a comment resolved when it is addressed; it can be reopened. Filter and sort the list by status and priority to work through open feedback.
Review together
On Pro and Team, people viewing the same asset see each other in a presence
roster. Choose a person there to follow their camera as they move, and press
L for a laser pointer that everyone sees.
