Install the Blender extension

The Proximae extension for Blender exports an optimized copy of your scene straight into a project. It is included on every plan.

Requirements

• Blender 4.2 or newer.
• Windows or Linux. macOS is coming soon.
• Allow Online Access enabled in Blender's preferences, so the extension can reach Proximae and download its optimizer.

Steps

1. In Blender, open Edit, then Preferences, then Get Extensions.
2. Open Repositories and add a remote repository with the URL https://static.proximae.io/dcc/blender/index.json.
3. Find Proximae in the extension list and install it.
4. In the 3D Viewport press N to open the sidebar and select the Proximae tab.
5. The first time, the panel shows a one-time setup step. Choose Install optimizer. It shows the download size and progress and can be cancelled. On a machine without internet access, Install from archive installs the same runtime from a file you were given.

Expected result

Once the optimizer is installed, the panel shows Sign In. Continue with Connect your account.

Updates

Check for Updates in the panel opens Blender's extension manager on the Proximae repository, where an update can be installed. An update that needs a newer optimizer shows Update optimizer once. Updates are never installed without your action.

Notes

• The optimizer runs on your machine. Only the optimized model is uploaded.
• Optimizer runtimes are installed once per user and shared between Blender versions.
